32nd Manila International Book Fair - Day 5

Day 5 at the Manila International Book Fair
SMX, Sept 14-18 2011

Yesterday was the last day of the 32nd Manila International Book Fair at SMX, Mall of Asia.  I was finally able to take some photos!

As soon as you enter, who else to greet you first but National's stall? Everything is at 20% off, and they had quite a good selection.
National Book Store's stall greets you
as you enter the fair with everything at 20% off
Special Bargains never fail to interest everyone

Of course, there was also a special treat for those visiting National--have your copy of Moondogs or Before Ever After signed by the authors themselves!

A few steps away, also in front of the entrance, we find Goodwill Bookstore, also with everything at 20% off.

Here was also another most frequented stall - the magazine stands!

Back issues at P50, or FREE when you buy a current issue!
Summit's magazine titles.  Yes! :-)

Of course, let's not forget Emerald's offer...

Next, we find several publishers and booksellers...

Vibal Publishing showcasing their new Storybooks for the iPad

Film showing at C&E Publishing's booth

Abiva Publishing

Anvil Publishing

Scholastic's titles include Harry Potter and The Hunger Games

Then some random photos of...

A girl reading...
A sea of textbooks...
and of course several cosplay aficionados...

The crowd favorite was, of course, a special performance by David Pomeranz who was there to promote the book Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard.

and also giving a rendition of "King and Queen of Hearts"
much to the crowd's delight

Then at 3:30pm I dropped by a talk "Life of a Novelist: How to Get Published by the World's Largest English Language Trade Publisher" featuring Samantha Sotto and Alexander Yates. This was sponsored by National Book Store and Random House and held at the 2nd floor Meeting Room 6.

The program was hosted by Sandra Ramos-Padilla, Merchandising Director of National Book Store
Alexander Yates, author of Moondogs and Samantha Sotto, author of Before Ever After.
Unfortunately Andy Mulligan, author of Trash, was not able to attend.

And there you have it, my visit to the 32nd Manila International Book Fair.  Till next year!

  3. Hi! Can we borrow your photos for publication in our scholarly English magazines? We are featuring the event but unfortunately weren't able to attend it. We will put your name in the credits. Thanks!
